Under the supervision of the Correctional Counselor II (Supervisor), the Correctional Counselor I will be responsible for handling inmate requests; obtaining inmate signatures for legal paperwork; prepare pre-release reports; supervise central file reviews and inmate attorney visits. CCI will review incarcerated persons appeals and interview IP's if necessary; deal with outside agencies, attorneys and family members, set up unit classification committees and maintain and track medical/psychiatric referrals. Process trust withdrawals; copy legal material for inmates; prepare special reports and counsel IP's on personal, institutional and family problems.

3. Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by departmental annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
4.
