Your impact

We’re looking for a motivated and experienced, business development and client-service-focused Senior Design-Build (DB) Design Manager (aka DB A/E Team Project Manager) to join our growing team of multi-discipline professionals delivering outstanding planning, consulting, design, and construction services to our Northwest Cities & Places clients in our core and growth sectors: municipal, transit, aviation, healthcare, higher education, industrial, hi-tech, and corporate. 

You will be a strategic part of our Project Management team and have the chance to grow and manage a multi-discipline team of civil / structural / architectural (CSA), mechanical / electrical / plumbing (MEP), virtual design and construction / building information modeling (VDC/BIM), administrative, and other technical resources in delivering building and place-making projects and programs from planning through design and construction. Your primary focus will be helping develop strategic partnerships and to win and deliver projects with alternative delivery models: Design-Build (DB), Progressive Design-Build (PDB), Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR), Public-Private Partnerships (P3), Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), etc. Your secondary focus will be to win and deliver architectural and engineering consulting and design work (planning/programming studies, feasibility reports, condition assessments, design, and other services) with a traditional Design-Bid-Build (DBB) delivery model for large and/or multiple private and public sector clients.

In this key role you will:

Help inform and implement our broader Cities & Places growth strategy through interaction with industry and client organizations; build and lead client service teams, bringing thought leadership to serve new and existing clients, particularly in higher education, industrial, hi-tech, and corporate sectors. 

Work  with team members to share in the development and growth of our company culture, which promotes autonomy and allows for great opportunities to deliver local projects across the Cities & Places platform. Help grow the Cities & Places portfolio while also supporting our mature infrastructure s (Water, Transportation, Advanced Facilities, and Federal) across the Northwest.  

Expand your existing and new client relationships to organize and develop teams to pursue planning, consulting, design, and alternative delivery work. Assist our Sales Teams to identify opportunities, develop qualifications packages, and participate in interviews.

Work closely  with our clients and act as the company’s main point of contact on assigned projects and/or clients to ensure expectations are identified and met.

Use your technical expertise to lead project teams in the development of project documentation and execution of work by providing overall direction to the team and leading coordination with external project stakeholders, construction partner(s), internal team members, and subconsultants.

Provide effective, skilled project management to help reduce the costs of delivering projects, adding value to the business by applying proven project management techniques. Deliver large complex and/or multiple projects on time, within budget, and per contracted scope.  Coordinate and manage proposals, staff resource plans, project delivery budget / fee documents, progress schedules, design quality plans, health & safety considerations, change logs, and project delivery schedules with fast-tracking considerations to meet client milestones and commitments.

Manage team  to provide construction phase services where scope-applicable, including coordinating Jacobs’ responses to RFIs, submittal and shop drawing reviews, construction modification documents, and site visits / observations.

Be responsible for the overall quality of the project deliverables in adherence with Jacobs’ rigorous Quality Program. You will manage and enhance project quality by providing ideas and suggestions to the team aimed at improving the effectiveness of their roles, and of project activities in general.

Mentor staff  and drive professional development of our project teams to support delivery of the highest level of service to our clients.

Engage with other Jacobs’ planning, consulting, and design professionals and project delivery leaders through our internal technical and social communities to help you grow your skill sets, engage with peers and mentors, and gain awareness of our global technology and project delivery platforms.

Here's what you'll need

• Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management (Bachelor or Master).

• Minimum 10 years of experience executing work in role(s) responsible for leading multi-discipline infrastructure teams to delivery consulting, design, and services during construction (SDC) via alternative delivery models: DB, PDB, CMAR, P3, IPD, etc.

• Strong working knowledge of pre-design and pre-construction, design management, building systems / components / technologies, alternative delivery methods, contracting, risk and change management, team-building, and client service / relationship-building.

Ideally, you'll also have

• Understanding workflow and documentation for BIM (Revit).

• Professional Registered Architect (RA) or Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).

• DBIA Certification.

• Knowledge of sustainability, integrated design, and LEED guidelines.

• Experience in contracts negation pertaining to GMP estimates for project delivery..

Posted Salary Range: Minimum

154,700.00

Posted Salary Range: Upper

270,800.00

The base salary range for this position is $154,700.00 to $270,800.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
