Job Description

PRN Perioperative Nurse/RN

About The Position:

The perioperative nurse is responsible for the observation, assessment, education, and care of surgery patients.

The perioperative nurse plays an essential role in providing safe, compassionate, and high-quality care to our plastic surgery patients throughout their surgical journey—before, during, and after procedures.

We’re looking for a kind, motivated nurse who takes pride in delivering an exceptional patient experience and maintaining high professional standards. This PRN role is ideal for someone interested in gaining experience in the plastic surgery setting, with availability for 1–4 shifts per month.

Our team values positivity, flexibility, and strong collaboration. If you enjoy working in a supportive, close-knit environment while also being proactive and dependable, you’ll fit right in. Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills are important, along with attention to detail, clear (closed-loop) communication, and a commitment to maintaining all safety and regulatory standards.

Scheduling for this position is flexible and based on surgical needs. Shifts may include either:

  • An early pre-op/circulating shift, or
  • A pre-op/PACU recovery mid-day shift

Surgery days are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. At least one shift per month is guaranteed, with the opportunity to grow into a more consistent schedule over time.

Opening shifts begin at 5:45 AM and end when the day’s surgeries are complete. Mid-day PACU shifts start no earlier than 8:00 AM (timing varies based on the surgical schedule) and conclude after the final patient has been discharged.

About Our Surgery Center:

Our Surgery Center is a boutique AAAASF-certified surgery suite with one operating room and one surgeon. We provide a high level of individualized care for plastic surgery patients. Our goal is to provide the best experience and outcome to our patients. We also value providing a positive and rewarding work environment for our team that emphasizes teamwork, collaboration, and open communication.

Qualifications:

  • Active Florida State RN License (required).
  • Current ACLS and BLS approved by FL state (required).
  • Pre-op, OR, PACU experience (preferred).
  • ICU/ED experience (preferred).
  • Plastic Surgery clinical experience (preferred).
  • Proficient in IV Skills
  • Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient.
  • Understand the principles of the aseptic technique and their implementation.
  • Ability to lift and transfer patients easily.
  • Ability to work autonomously confidently.
