Great Basin Staffing is hiring Sheet Metal Helpers for an industrial/commercial HVAC scope supporting a SpaceX/Starlink related project in Bastrop, TX . This role is ideal for someone with ~1 year of hands-on sheet metal/HVAC helper experience (but less than 2 years) who knows the basics and wants to level up fast under a strong crew.

You’ll assist mechanics with material handling, duct prep/assembly, installs, and jobsite organization while learning best practices for production, safety, and quality.

What You’ll Do

• Assist sheet metal mechanics with ductwork installation (rectangular/spiral), hangers, supports, and hardware.

• Help with material staging : moving duct, fittings, liner/insulation, registers/grilles, fasteners.

• Perform basic shop/field tasks: measuring/marking, cutting support (as directed), sealing/taping, labeling, and cleanup.

• Use basic hand/power tools safely (snips, tape, drill/impact, saw as permitted).

• Maintain clean, organized work areas and follow site safety rules and crew lead direction.

Requirements (Must Have)

• 1+ year (and typically less than 2 years ) of sheet metal helper / HVAC helper experience on commercial or industrial jobsites.

• Able to lift/carry 50+ lbs and work on ladders/lifts as needed.

• Reliable transportation and consistent attendance.

• Safety-minded and able to follow direction in a fast-paced environment.

• PPE as required by site (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, work boots; hi-vis as required).

Preferred (Nice to Have)

• Familiarity with duct components (S&D, elbows, transitions, dampers), hangers, and basic layout.

• Experience working around mechanical rooms, rooftops, or industrial facilities.

• OSHA-10 (or willingness to obtain).

• Bilingual (EN/ES).

Schedule & Working Conditions

• Project-based assignment with full-time hours; OT may be available depending on workload.

• Indoor/outdoor construction environment; moderate-to-loud noise, temperature swings, and active work zones.
