Under general supervision of a Telecommunications Systems Operations Supervisor I (TSOS I), the Telecommunications Systems Technician II (TST II) install, repair, and maintain telecommunication systems at a journeyman level. Working in and on Public Safety dispatch centers, communication towers, public safety vehicles, microwave systems, and remote mountain site infrastructure. Requires extensive knowledge of Land Mobile Radio Communication Systems, Public Safety communications operations, siren and light vehicle warning systems. This position requires tower climbing, working at remote mountainous work sites and in inclement weather conditions.

Working Conditions

In Office: This position supports and manages the day-to-day business operations for Cal OES which is handled in an office location. This is not considered a hybrid telework position.

DMV Pull Program: Participation in the DMV Pull Program is required. The position(s) require(s) a valid California Driver’s License (CDL). You must answer the questions addressing your CDL on your application. Ensure you provide your CDL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions.

THIS POSITION IS SUBJECT TO THE POST & BID PROCESS:

Background Investigation: Candidates are required to submit to a background investigation process, including but not limited to Live Scan fingerprinting to obtain Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigations clearances.

To be eligible for consideration, you must possess an FCC General Radiotelephone Operator’s License or industry accepted equivalent (please refer to the Classification Specifications). Please include a copy of your license or reference your Call Number or FRN #.
